18th Pan-American Draughts Championship
I - GOAL
Art. 1st - The 18th Pan American Draughts Championship aims to boost the development of draughts and raise the technical level throughout the American Continent and to qualify representatives of the American Continent for the World Championship.
II - FOR OFFICIAL INFORMATION
III - THE PLACE, DATE, NUMBER OF ROUNDS AND PLAYING TIME
Art. 3rd - The 18th Pan American Draughts Championship will be held in São Sebastião city – São Paulo State - Brazil, on the premises of Hotel Recando dos Pássaros, located at Av Guarda Mór Lobo Viana, 822, Centrum, (http://www.recantodospassaros.tur.br/) and will be played in 9 rounds by the Swiss system, with 1h20minutes plus 1 minute for each move (Fischer System) for each player, according to the following schedule:
- 12 April- Arrival of participants
- 13- 14 hours - Technical Congress - Official Opening
- 13 - 15 hours – 1st Round
- 14 - 14 hours – 2nd Round
- 15 - 09 hours – 3rd Round
- 15 - 19 hours – 4th Round
- 16 - 14 hours – 5th Round
- 17 - 09 hours – 6th Round
- 17 - 19 hours – 7th Round
- 18 - 14 hours – 8th Round
- 19 - 09 hours – 9th Round
- 19 - Closing
III - PARTICIPANTS
Art. 4 – Players must be confirmed by the Pan American Draughts and Checkers Confederation and each country of the American Continent can take part with 2 players. In addition, all the players that got the title of Pan-American Champion have the right to play and Brazil, has right to include 1 player more and the Brazilian sponsor of the competition also has right to include 1 player and also Brazil has right to include one player more if the number of players is not even.
Unique - Brazil can add one player more as Sponsor Place, according FMJD rules.
IV - Pairings
Art. 5 – In the first round, players from the same country play against each other.
Art. 6 - The pairings will be done using the "Swiss Perfect" software.
V - CRITERIA TIE
Art. 7 - When there is a tie between two (2) players, direct confrontation should be the first tiebreaker. In the case of the 2 larger number of players tied, the tie-breaking criteria to be used will be: 1st- The highest average rating of the opponents; 2 - Median Solkoff-Buczholz; 3 - Truncated Solkoff –Buccholz;
VI - DUTIES OF ATHLETES
Art. 8 - Comply with and respect the rules of the FMJD.
Art. 9 - To not withdraw from the competition before its end. Withdrawal results in suspension of 02 (two) years from all competitions worldwide.
VII - DUTIES OF THE ORGANIZERS
Art. 10 - Giving full accommodation (accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner) for the participants.
Art. 11 – The second player of the countries must pay himself the stay in São Sebastião. The package from April/12 to April/19 is US$ 300.00 in a shared double room, breakfast, lunch and dinner included, starting with diner on April 12 and ending with lunch on April 19.
Art. 11 - Giving awards (trophees and medals) to 5 best placed players.
Art. 12 - Arranging transportation from the International Airport of São Paulo to São Sebastião and vice-versa.
VIII - EXCEPTIONAL CASES
Art. 13 - All cases not regulated in the above regulations shall be decided by the Organizing Committee.
